Dear Friends and Neighbors in House District 135,
In your state legislature, we are now just over half way through this year’s session.
1335 bills have been published to date out of the perhaps 1600 or 1700 that we will deliberate before we adjourn.
You can see a list of the bills that I’m sponsoring and working on at this link:
Please let me know if you’d like more detailed information about any of these.
I have also been working with the Appropriations Committee on the sections of the biennial budget related to education.
You can see our committee’s recommendations for altering the Governor’s budget proposal and the reasoning behind the initiatives at this link:
Most of the work in the legislature at this time is still in committees. However, I am gratified to have had some early success with at least four of my bills which have gained unanimous reports out of committee and have either become law or are on their way to final enactment. They are:
- LD 3 An Act To Ensure Consistent Certification of Graduation Standards in Publicly Funded Secondary Schools
- LD 38 An Act To Allow Sufficient Time for Implementation of the Performance Evaluation and Professional Growth System for Educators
- LD 131 An Act To Amend the Laws Related to Public Funding of Charter Schools
- LD 692 An Act Regarding Educator Effectiveness
As we enter the busy time of this session, please let me continue to your interests and concerns.
With gratitude,
Brian
